Teacher Recruitment: Big news for job aspirants.  The Nitish government made another announcement before the assembly elections in Bihar.   The state government will recruit 1.60 lakh new teachers to further improve the education system. 


Also, to meet the basic needs of government schools in the state, a list of 10 schools will be taken from all legislators.  After that the respective schools will be renovated.  


Education Minister Sunil Kumar made the announcement while presenting the supplementary budget on Thursday.   The minister said that the department is working to ensure quality education.  In his address, the Minister said that the Education Department under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is working to ensure good and quality education for all.


Keeping in mind the girls, minorities, backward and very backward people of the state, 18 percent of the total budget of the state is allocated only for the education department.


He said that 1 lakh 73 thousand teachers have been appointed simultaneously to improve the quality of education.   This is a record in itself.  He said that currently the total number of teachers in the state is 5.37 lakh.


Announcing in Parliament, Minister Sunil Kumar said that the government has now decided to recruit 1.60 lakh new teachers.   Similarly, continuous training is being done to improve the quality of teachers.


He said that the government has decided that the school syllabus will be developed keeping in mind the competitive exams so that the students can succeed in the competitive exams.


Eligibility test is being conducted to give government status to citizen teachers. 85,000 teachers will participate in the eligibility test soon.   Besides, the sick, women and spouses of the civic body will also be given transfer facility.


The Education Minister said that there have been many changes in the education sector under the leadership of the Chief Minister.  The total number of teachers in 2006 was 1.80 lakh.   Which will increase to 5.77 lakh in 2024.  At that time there was one teacher for 65 students.   Currently there is one teacher for 32 students.
