Post Office GDS Recruitment: Good news for job seekers.  44,228 Dak Sevaks in Postal Department Indian Postal Department will recruit 44,228 post of Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster and Dak Sevak in various circles across the country.  The candidate should know the local language of the circle in which he/she is applying for the vacancy.  Must also be a local resident.  There are 2,542 vacancies for West Bengal.

Format of vacancy

Bengal: Total vacancies 2,440 (General 1,055, Scheduled Caste 491, Scheduled Tribe 137, OBC 530, Financially Backward 170, Physically Handicapped 57). 

Bengali/Nepali: Total 21 vacancies (General Schedule Caste 5, OBC 4, Financially Backward 1). 

Bhutia / English / Lepcha / Nepali: Total Vacancies 35 (General 23, Scheduled Caste 1, Scheduled Tribe 3, OBC 3, Economically Backward 3, Physically Handicapped 2). 

English/Hindi: Total Vacancies 46 (General 17, Schedule Tribe 9, OBC 12, Financially Backward 8).  Nepali 1 (Scheduled Tribe).

Educational qualification

Secondary pass from recognized board.  Candidate must have studied local language at secondary level.  Besides, computer knowledge and know how to ride a bicycle.

Age

Must be between 18 to 40 years as on 5-8-2024.  Schedules 5, OBCs 3 and Physically Handicapped will get 10 years relaxation.

Salary

12,000-29,380 for the post of Branch Postmaster.  10,000-24,470 for the post of Assistant Branch Postmaster and Dak Sevak.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in education.  Preliminarily shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.
