Teacher Recruitment: Karnataka Government has sanctioned recruitment of 45,000 guest teachers. The state government has approved the recruitment of 45,000 guest teachers including 35,000 guest teachers for government primary schools and 10,000 for high schools across the state.
The Commissioner of Public Instruction on Monday issued an order in this regard, saying that for the academic year 2024-25, appointment of guest teachers to vacant teaching posts in government primary schools has been allowed to overcome teacher shortage till the appointment of permanent teachers or till the end of the academic year.
Last year, the state government employed 33,000 guest teachers in schools at the beginning of the year. However, this year the guest teacher recruitment process was delayed.
Currently there is a shortage of 8,954 subject teachers in high schools and 33,863 teachers in primary schools. The appointment of guest teachers is done through the Headmasters of the schools.
Vacancies in rural areas and vacancies in teacherless schools will be given preference. 100% guest teachers will be recruited, especially in Karnataka public schools, bilingual, English medium classes and standard schools. According to the notification, priority should be given in the recruitment of teachers of mathematics, science and English subjects.
