Assistant Professor Recruitment: Tamil Nadu Government has recently issued a notification for the recruitment of Assistant Professors for 4,000 vacancies. However, Makkal Kalvi Kutiakkam requested Chief Minister MK Stalin to regularize guest lecturers working in various colleges across Tamil Nadu.
In a press statement, Kutiakkam coordinators R Murali, Sivakumar and Kana Kurinji said that the TN Teachers Recruitment Board has issued a notification to fill 4,000 assistant professor vacancies in government colleges across the state. But, more than 10,000 guest professors are already working for more than 10 years in government arts and science colleges with PG with UGC prescribed qualification SET/NET/Ph.D and they have to be regular.
Earlier the Madras High Court ruled in favor of regularizing 1,146 guest professors and the government issued an order in this regard. However, TNTRB has now issued a fresh notice to fill up the vacancies.
The coordinators in this regard urged Chief Minister Stalin to immediately regularize the guest lecturers and pay the UGC-fixed monthly salary of Rs 57,000 to these guest teachers working in government, government-aided and self-financing colleges. However, the Tamil Nadu state government has not commented on the matter.
