PhD Admission Notification: Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D programme in Education, Department of Education, University of Calcutta, 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata - 27. The proforma for application is available in the University website www.caluniv.ac.in.
Application form duly filled in together with receipt of Rs. 100/- paid online through SBI Collect (https://www.onlinesbi.com) SB Collect - payment for miscellaneous fees application for admission to Ph. D) are to be submitted to the Departmental office (3 floor, Alipore campus) from 19. 02. 2024 to 23. 02. 2024 between 1 pm to 3pm.
Kindly note that the entire application along with all documents need to be submitted in an enclosed envelope to the Office of Department of Education.
The admission to the Ph. D programme is guided by the University of Calcutta (Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Ph. D), Regulation 2016 and other relevant rules of the University. Admission to the programme will be given after a written Entrance Test (RET) followed by a persona; interview (viva).
Eligibility
Eligible candidates shall have Master's Degree in Education/M.Ed with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B+ in the UGC 7 point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale where ever grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled candidates as per UGC guidelines. Those candidates who have already passed UGC/CSIR (JRF) examinations NET/SET/SLET/M. Phil, Teacher Fellow in Education need not appear at the written examination and can directly apply to appear at the interview. Reservation policy will be followed as per Government of West Bengal, Labour Department, No. 50-Emp/1M-25/98, dated 01/03/2011, for Persons with Disabilities "Model 100-point Roster of vacancies" as notified by Labour Department vide notification No 50-EMP/IM-25/98, dated 01/03/2011, order dated 08/07/19 and for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Notification No. 18-Emp (EC)/LABR 27011(20)/1/2020-EC Dated 07/02/2023. All those called for interview will have to submit a statement of purpose of research in brief and appear in the interview on the specified date.
Procedure for RET
A written test will be held for 50 marks with duration of 1 hour through offline. The questions for the Entrance Test will be based on Research Methodology and Statistical Analysis as laid in UGC-NET syllabus in Education. The questions will be prepared in English language.
Qualifying marks for Entrance Test
50% for general category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled category.
Application Fee & Last Date
