Age

The minimum age of job candidates should not be less than 18 years in any case.  Upper age limit as on 1-1-2024 should not be above 30 years.  There is an upper age relaxation of five years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and three years for Other Backward Classes (OBC A, OBC B).  Upper age relaxation for third gender or transsexuals is three years.  Civic volunteers working in Kolkata Police will get five years relaxation.  Retired military personnel also have age relaxation as per rules.

Educational qualification

Applicant must have passed Madhyamik Examination from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or equivalent.  Must know how to read, write and speak Bengali.  However, knowledge of Bengali language is not compulsory for permanent residents of Darjeeling Hill Division and Kalimpong District.

Total vacancies are 3734.  Out of this the total number of vacancies for Constable is 3464.  Total Vacancy for Lady Constable is 270.
