Teacher Recruitment: The School Education Department of Maharashtra has announced the recruitment of teachers for a total of 21,678 vacancies in 1,258 schools across the state, including Zilla Parishad (ZP), Municipal Corporations, City Councils and privately run schools from Class 1 to 12.
According to a notification issued by Maharashtra Commissioner for Education Suraj Mandhar on Monday, the process will be through the Holy Portal - a technology-based centralized platform for the recruitment process to ensure transparency.
The notification said that the posts under reservation were finalized by November 2023. However, the process was delayed due to questions raised on the appointment during the legislative session.
As per the notification, 2,39,730 candidates were registered for the Teacher Eligibility and Intelligence Test (TAIT) in February/March 2023 but 2,16,443 appeared for it. These candidates and those who appeared in the 2022 exam will participate in this recruitment process.
There are a total of 18,373 teaching posts in Marathi medium schools. This is followed by 1,850 posts in Urdu medium schools. Whereas there are 931 posts in English medium schools and 410 posts in Hindi medium schools. Besides, there are some vacancies in Tamil, Bengali and Telugu medium schools.
There are a total of 35 ZP schools with 12,522 posts, 18 municipal corporation schools with 2,951 posts, 82 city council schools with 477 posts and 1,123 private schools with 5,728 posts.
