Guest Teacher Recruitment: To improve the quality of education, the Himachal Pradesh Education Department has announced the commencement of interviews to fill up 2600 guest teacher posts in government schools and colleges across the state. The move is being done as part of efforts to address staff shortages in various schools and colleges, including in remote and tribal areas.
Recruitment process will be conducted based on interview. The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has recently approved the recruitment of 2600 guest teachers. Emphasized the need to fill vacancies quickly. The posts include 1600 vacancies for Junior Basic Training (JBT) teachers and 1000 vacancies for school and college lecturers. Successful candidates will be appointed for a minimum of one year and a maximum of two years.
For these period-based posts, teachers will be paid Rs 200 and 250 per period in primary and high schools and Rs 300 per period for colleges. A maximum of four periods can be taken per day.
After the merit selection process the candidates will get an opportunity to choose the school of their choice after counselling. For JBT teacher recruitment, candidates must secure 75 percent marks in class 12 and 65 percent marks in Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). College Cadre Teacher Recruitment, on the other hand, will consider only those candidates who have successfully cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Eligibility Test (SET).
The Education Department has also said that regular teachers will not be appointed in educational institutions where guest teachers are being appointed. Even in exceptional cases where regular teachers may be sent, guest teachers will not be displaced, so that they can complete their assigned tenure without interruption.
