NIOS DElEd: Calcutta High Court has called for a report on the appointment of primary teachers

NIOS DElEd

NIOS DElEd: A new complication has arisen over the recruitment of West Bengal primary teachers.  A new complex emerged in the primary teacher recruitment process.  4 thousand candidates may be deprived of the new recruitment process.  Calcutta High Court called for the report.

Recently, Supreme Court, the highest court of the country, has given a verdict on 18-month DElEd.  The court said, NIOS DElEd course of 18 months cannot be equal to DElEd course of 24 months.  In Uttarakhand primary teacher recruitment case, the Supreme Court said that all these job candidates are not eligible to be appointed as teachers.

A case related to this NIOS DElEd came up for hearing today in the bench of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay.  Justice asked the Board of Primary Education to know what decision the Board is going to take in view of the Supreme Court verdict.

On January 4, this case will come up again in Calcutta High Court.  Before that, the Board of Primary Education should be informed what decision will be taken regarding these candidates.  That is to say, 4 thousand job candidates may be deprived of the new recruitment process after the order of the Supreme Court.

Incidentally, the DELED job aspirants from NIOS faced a major setback in the Supreme Court.  The judgment and order passed by the Uttarakhand High Court on 14 September 2022 has been set aside, as a result of which DElEd job aspirants from NIOS will be excluded from primary teacher recruitment.  The Supreme Court also expressed surprise with the decision of the Patna High Court.  Why did NCTE not challenge this decision?  The highest court of the country raised the question.  The Supreme Court overturned the Uttarakhand High Court's order.
