WBSSC: Big news came out about teacher recruitment exam. Bihar Government's SLP was heard in the Supreme Court. But no order was passed and the case was transferred to another bench. Now a Supreme Court bench headed by the CJI will hear the matter. There is still hope for B.Ed candidates from today's hearing, as the Supreme Court has not dismissed Bihar Govt's SLP.
The Bihar State Government has filed an SLP in the Supreme Court regarding eligibility of BEd candidates for primary school recruitment. Bihar Public Service Commission is recruiting 1.70 lakh teachers. More than 8 lakh candidates applied for it. Exams are held for recruitment in the month of August.
Meanwhile, in August, the Supreme Court ruled in the Rajasthan government's case that BEd degree holders should not be considered as eligible candidates for primary school teachers and struck down NCTE's guidelines. The Supreme Court had later allowed BPSC to conduct the examination for B.Ed degree holders in primary schools, but recently the Patna High Court had said that the Supreme Court's decision in the Rajasthan case would apply to Bihar. Based on the Patna High Court decision, the Bihar government filed an SLP in the Supreme Court. For this, Education Department Principal Secretary KK Pathak himself went to Delhi. On which the hearing is held today.
The Bihar government argued in the Supreme Court that before the decision to disqualify BEd degree holders for primary teachers in the Rajasthan case in August, applications for teacher recruitment tests were taken in the state and these candidates also appeared for the test. Therefore, these candidates should be allowed to be considered eligible. The Supreme Court's August guidelines will be followed in whatever examinations are held henceforth. The Supreme Court has not given any decision today. The case will be heard in another bench. It is expected that the Supreme Court will accept the Bihar government's appeal.
