Good news for job aspirants, West Bengal government has started 36 thousand recruitment drive

36,000 Anganwadis

WBSSC: Good news for job seekers.  The state government has started a drive to recruit 36,000 Anganwadis.  The government has started the drive to fill up the vacancies in Anganwadi Centers in the state.  A total of 36,000 posts will be appointed for workers and assistants.  The final appointment will be from the district level.  For this most of the districts have 'Selection and Monitoring Committee'.  But it was not in Maldah, East Medinipur, Purulia, East Burdwan and West Burdwan districts.  Committees have recently been formed in these five districts to fill vacancies quickly.

At present there are a total of 1 lakh 19 thousand 481 Anganwadi centers in the state.  Each center has one worker and assistant.  As such, there are currently around 15,000 workers and 21,000 assistant posts vacant.  The state is moving towards filling up these vacancies in a phased manner.

Regarding this, the Minister of Women, Children and Social Welfare Shashi Panja said, "The recruitment committee has been formed quickly.  Because, the state government wants to fill the vacancies as soon as possible.  However, the Center has brought some changes in the rules regarding recruitment of Anganwadi workers and helpers.  We consider those changes to be anti-people.  Therefore, the center has been demanded to keep the previous rules in force.  But they have not given any answer yet.  The Center should inform the matter at the earliest so that there is no problem with the recruitment process.'

Incidentally, the upper age limit for getting employment in Anganwadi centers has been reduced from 45 to 35 years.  Also, the minimum educational qualification for both the posts of workers and assistants has been made higher secondary.  Earlier 8th standard was compulsory for assistants and Madhyamik pass for workers.  The state government fears that many marginalized people will lose the opportunity to get jobs under the new rules of the Centre.
