Earlier, the Assam Cabinet had decided to discontinue the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for secondary school graduate and post graduate (GT and PGT) teachers. Assam government has decided to conduct a TET-cum-recruitment test for posts.
The state government said that as per the new system the successful candidates in the TET-cum-recruitment test will be considered equal to the number of vacancies available. This decision was taken to streamline the recruitment process and ensure that eligible candidates get a fair chance for secondary school teaching posts.
