WBSSC: There is no recruitment, 42 percent of teaching posts (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor) reserved in central universities are lying vacant. This is what the minister said. These posts are reserved for SC, ST, OBCs. Union Ministry of Education informed this in Parliament on Wednesday. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said this during the question and answer session in the Lok Sabha. He gave the account till 1st July 2023.
CPM MP John Brittas asked, how many seats are vacant in all central universities? In response, the Union Minister said that 22412 posts out of 54512 sanctioned posts are vacant till 1st July. This post is mentioned in terms of 45 running Central Universities.
7033 posts are allotted for OBC, SC and ST candidates in Central Universities. Among them 3007 posts are vacant. According to that information, 1665 seats are vacant for OBCs. That means 46 percent seats are vacant. Among SCs, 44 per cent seats are vacant while 37 per cent are STs.
Why are there so many vacant posts? In response, the education minister said that this vacancy has actually been created due to retirement, resignation, increase in the number of teachers to increase the number of students. However, central universities have been asked to fill up the vacancies as per their requirement.
The Union Education Minister said that 517 people have been taken in reserved seats in 2023. Among them 285 OBC, 150 SC and 82 ST candidates. The minister said that teachers will be appointed soon for the remaining vacancies.
