সুপ্রিম কোর্টে অভিজিৎ গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়

WBSSC: Once again, the order of suspension fell on the order of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay.  Supreme Court's interim stay on Justice Gangopadhyay's order in school posting case.

The state approached the Supreme Court challenging Justice Gangopadhyay's order in the posting case.  Their argument is that the CBI is investigating the recruitment case.  Why investigate for posting again?  Supreme Court granted interim stay.

The Supreme Court granted an interim stay on the order of the Calcutta High Court in the primary school posting case.  High Court Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay ordered the CBI investigation to continue in the case.  He also informed that CBI can interrogate 344 primary teachers if necessary.  The judge also sought a report from the CBI regarding this investigation.  The Supreme Court stayed the case.

Meanwhile, 30 teachers were summoned.  CBI summoned 30 primary teachers from Hooghly to Nizam on allegations of manipulation in transfer.  A case was filed in the High Court alleging irregularities in the transfer of primary teachers who were appointed in 2020.  Manik Bhattacharya was also ordered to be questioned in that case.

The teachers have been summoned several times before in the state's unprecedented teacher recruitment corruption case.  This is the first time teachers have been summoned in the posting case.  These 30 will be interrogated as to whether there was any manipulation in their posting as primary teachers.

Allegations of 'corruption' have been raised in the recruitment of primary teachers by the state government in 2020.  A few teachers filed a case alleging irregularities in who would be posted in which school.  Allegations were of deliberate corruption in postings in several districts including Murshidabad, Hooghly.  To avoid irregularities, vacancies are first shown to be reduced and their own people are appointed closer to home.

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay directed the CBI to continue its investigation into the posting case.  He also said that if necessary, the central investigation agency can interrogate all 344 primary teachers.  After that this summons.

According to CBI sources, 344 people will be interrogated step by step instead of being called at once.  30 teachers of Hooghly have been summoned on Monday.  After their interrogation, the report will be submitted to the bench of High Justice Gangopadhyay.
