5000 teacher jobs in crisis? Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay summoned the report to the board

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay

WBSSC: Primary teachers have been widely regulated!  Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay asked for a report from the Board of Primary Education.  How are 5,000 primary teachers working without training without following NCTE guidelines?  The judge ordered the primary education board to submit a report.

7 primary job seekers have filed a case in Calcutta High Court.  Those teachers have been working since 2020, said Tarunjyoti Tiwari, lawyer for the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs alleged that they were not recruited even though they had training, while 5,000 teachers were working without training.  All of them have B.D.  But as per NCTE guidelines none of them have done 6 months bridge course yet.  Even after that, the state government continues to pay their salaries.

Justice Gangopadhyay ordered to submit a report in this regard.  He gave 10 days time to the primary education board for this.  The board has to submit a report to the court by August 18.

As per NCTE norms B.ED trained teachers have to undergo a bridge course of six months.  However, it was not done.  In this situation, the teachers have to face the case again.  The jobs of these teachers are in question due to lack of full training.  The Calcutta High Court has sought a report from the Board of Primary Education.

Tarunjyoti Tiwari, the lawyer of the litigants, said that in 2020, the primary education council had published a notification for the recruitment of about 16,500 teachers.  It is said that apart from DleD trainees, Bed degree holders can also apply there.  About 5,000 such B.D degree holders are recruited by the Board.  But as per NCTE guidelines it is mandatory for them to do 6 months bridge course.  Which they haven't completed yet.  If the report of the board is not found acceptable, the court can order their dismissal from the job.
